Sleeping Star
5th April 2010
Welcome to Star who was born on 24th December 2009. She came to live with Lily Zak and Belle and of course us aged 14 weeks on 3rd April 2010. Her litter mates were two other girls and a little boy. She has settled in well over the last couple of days with the other three. She was introduced very slowly and then we took them all out for their first walk together and brought them straight back into the garden.
Yesterday whilst searching in the kitchen cupboard for a jug, she decided to investigate the saucepan cupboard and came out with a plastic bowl in tow. This morning she has decided to drag my fluffy rabbit doorstop all round the kitchen floor.
Zak seems to be her favourite, Lily of course is taking the role of Mum and Belle who is normally quite bossy is a little bit scared of her at the moment. She has had a brilliant first couple of nights, not one murmur, sleeping in a crate next to either Lily or Zak with Belle underneath in her bigger crate, tucked up with her vet bed which she brought with her and a bowl of food, puppy milk and a large knuckle bone, she has slept through the night. 'What a little STAR she has been.
We have a mountain of dog toys already but raided the pet shops before she arrived and bought her a selection of new toys just for her, true to form, she has taken a liking to an old rubber chicken of Belles that has seen better days. So far she has been very quiet but today she found her bark and the other three all came running to find out what was going on.

17th April 2010 - Our first proper grooming session
Star had her first proper grooming session with me and was truly a 'Little Star' These are two of her photos after she had been pampered. She has a nickname already and is often called 'Pumpkin', not quite sure why?
What a little beauty, I am!!
Relaxing.....

DFS CRUFTS 2011 - NEC Birmingham
Terrier Day Saturday 12th March.
Star at Crufts
Star qualified twice for crufts by the end of 2010. After gaining 1st place at Richmond, she also gained a 3rd Place at LKA Championship Show, Birmingham later on in the year.
We travelled up to Birmingham on Friday 11th March and stayed overnight so that we would be at the NEC nice and early and refreshed rather than having to get up in the early hours and travel up on the morning of the show. We arrived at Crufts at about 8.00am and had plenty of time to get Star groomed and ready for the ring. She was lovely and relaxed and quite content despite not having Belle with her. My feeling were of excitement, anticipation and nervousness but I tried not to let Star pick up on this and managed to stay calm and focused. We met up with lots of friends and had a really nice place in the benching area where we were able to chat and swap grooming and trimming tips and tricks. Star was entered in the Special Junior Class and it was around 11.00am that we went in the ring. She showed like a dream, moved well for the judge and was a very good girl on the table, I could not have asked more of her. She gained a 3rd place under the judge, Mr. A. Torbet and I am very proud and pleased to say that this placing qualifies her for Crufts 2012. So watch this space.
