Puppy update 4th March, 2009

A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR PHOTOS AND STORIES WHICH MAKE THIS PAGE POSSIBLE.

A SPECIAL BIG THANK YOU TO AMBER FOR HER BEAUTIFUL DRAWING.

One year on and the puppies celebrate their first birthdays.  They are all healthy and happily settled.  This is an update from each of their families on their treasured memories and photos of their first year together.

Jackinaspin Whacki Zaki

 Zachy

Zachy lives with Steve and Mo.

"Every moment has been memorable, from the day we chose him, to bringing him home and up to now.  To be greeted morning, noon and night with the ever wagging tail and a gift in his mouth, the panic when he cannot find something quick enough.  The first time we walked him, leaving him out the cage and being able to put it away.  We are able to let him have the run of the house at night and when we are not at work, he comes to say goodnight and I quite expect him to curl up on the end of the bed, but he prefers his own so down he goes and we dont see him until the next morning.  When I am at home he does not leave my side.  His hobby is to dig holes in the garden and it looks like a battle ground (any idea where you can get doggy wellies!!!).  He is very good in the car and just goes to sleep but does not like sharing the back seat with anyone.  There's lots I could tell, I love him to bits and thanks for letting me have his company. Jasper

Jasper lives with Julie, John and Little John.

This is some of their memories of the first year they have had with Jasper.  Julie says,

"Jasper has become such a part of our family, it is hard to believe we've not had him a year yet.  He has such a character.  He loves to lay over my husband's foot whilst playing with his toys as if he's not sure what he wants to play with most.  My husband also got Jasper trained as his personal alarm clock.  Jasper will jump on he bed and start licking his face just before he has to get up.  I have also noticed that Jasper snores something rotten.  Since we've had Jasper it also seems that I'm not good enough to wake him up in the mornings, the first thing my son asks for is 'Where's Jasper!!'.

Jasper isn't that keen on being brushed so one of his nick names is Scruffty.  When he goes to the hairdressers, he'll look like a completely different dog.  Today he officially became my marathon training partner.  If nothing else he's going to be the fittest Westie in Medway."

Belle

Belle lives with us at home, Lynne, Phil, Charlotte and her Mum and Dad, Lily and Zaki.

We have had such a fun and exciting year with Belle.  She is a great little puppy, full of mischief and fun.  She is very sweet and loving, a true lap dog but at the same time naughty and independent.  She loves nothing more than to have a good game of tug with Zaki or chase him around biting his ears and tail.  She has her own bed but prefers to share Zak's and when Zak gets fed up he gets in her little bed.  She is definitely second in the doggy pecking order.  Zak is at the bottom of the pile and Lily is definitely the boss.  Belle will often tell Zak off with a high pitched bark and she also uses this method if he has a chew or toy that she wants.  It doesn't take too many of her annoying 'yaps' before he gives in and she gets her own way.

Belle has the waggiest tail ever and her whole body moves when she wags her tail which is most of the time.  She is always pleased to see you and will greet you with a lick of her tongue.  She always has to bring you a toy and if she can't find one, anything else will do, often she is seen dragging a blanket out of her or Zak's bed.  Many a day I have to rescue a blanket from a strange place where Belle has dragged it and left it.   She has a funny habit of burying things too, again mainly in Zak's bed.  She then guards whatever she has buried with her life, giving both Lily and Zak filthy looks if they so much as venture more than a foot too near her.

Her show career has taken off really well and she has had a very successful first year achieving a host of rosettes being placed 1st - 3rd and also - Three Best Puppy Awards at three different Open Shows.  We are very proud of our Baby Belle and love her to bits.  Thank You Belle for becoming part of our family, you are very special.

'Tilly 'Tinker'

Tilly lives with Ann and Reggie

When we lost our dear westie in November 2007 there was a huge hole in our lives.  We just didn’t believe we could ever love another dog as much as our lovely Megan.  Well March 4th 2008 changed that and it is wonderful to say that it took no time at all for little Tilly to jump straight in to our hearts.

We feel we are so lucky to have followed the lead up to the birth of the puppies, getting to know Lilly and Zak and once they arrived we stuck to the website like glue, desperate for updates and new photo’s of the famous five.

Luckily for us, one of the girls was to stay with Mum and Dad so the decision was taken out of our hands.  I mean, just how could we possibly choose from these two gorgeous little girls.

Bringing her home was so exciting although we were worried how she would settle, leaving Mum, Dad and Sister Belle behind.  We needn’t have worried, within seconds of arriving she made herself right at home, playing with all her new toys, helping herself to a cup of tea (following in Dad Zaki’s footsteps, who’s also partial to a cuppa).  She was not at all timid or nervous, exploring every inch of her new home (including climbing in to any cupboard that happened to be open and even tried getting in the fridge!)  It wasn’t long before it was all too much and she took herself off to her new bed and had a good old snooze.

The days to follow were just full of fun, watching Tilly explore and getting up to and into all sorts of things.  Like Megan, she loved running around the garden with a flower pot in her mouth covering her eyes bumping in to anything in her way.

Despite buying Tilly lovely toys and several beds she preferred toys such as empty kitchen roll tubes and fell asleep in all sorts of funny places.  Like most puppies Tilly believed strongly in playing hard and resting hard, even managing to combine the two sometimes, by falling asleep in her toy basket.

Tilly likes to be a part of everything and is only too keen to help out where ever and when ever she can.   When digging a deep hole last summer to plant a new bamboo Tilly couldn’t wait to assist, digging as fast as she could, mud flying up behind her.  As you will see from the smug look in her eye she was very pleased with her efforts and hard work, dirty chin and all.

She is loved by all the family, friends and neighbours.  This became apparent when half of the presents under the Christmas tree this year were for her.  It didn’t take long for Tilly to learn how to rip them open on Christmas morning, shredding all the paper was as much fun as all the presents inside.

Tilly absolutely loved the snow we had in February.  Leaping around, diving in all the deep bits.  She was just so funny to watch.   Getting her back in doors was no easy task and we spent much time chasing her around the circuit she built for herself, diving under one bush then zooming out from another.    Her coat went even more curly than usual and her tail even fluffier!

We have had such a wonderful year with Tilly and a million photos and videos capturing all the fun and special moments.  She is turning out to be a right little monkey sometimes, hence her nick name “Tilly Tinker” but at the same time she is just so loving and loves nothing more but to climb up next to you, snuggle in, her head on your lap and off to sleep.

I could go on forever talking about our special little Tilly and we’re so grateful she came from such lovely parents.  How could she not have such a wonderful temperament and fantastic character and also be as loving as she is with Lily and Zak as parents.  We simply adore her and love her with all our hearts.  Thanks you so much Lynne for giving us Tilly Tinker.

Jackinaspin Wind in A Willow

'Finley'

Finley lives with Wayne, Jo and Little Amber

Here are some of the things that Finley's family have to say about him.

"He is such a fantastic little dog, we all adore him so much....."

"Its hard to believe that Finley and his brothers and sisters will be a year old on 4th March, where does the time go?"

"Finley has given us so much joy, he is cheeky, cute, funny, entertaining, obedient (most of the time), loving, friendly, calm and welcoming - What would we do without him..."

One final word, I also cant believe a whole year has gone by since they were born.  They have all turned out to be a real credit.  I am so proud of them all and couldn't have picked nicer homes for them all.  Good luck in their second year.
